When visiting Vancouver for the first time, it is a good idea to plan an itinerary to help you use the time available to the best advantage. There are so many interesting and fun things to do that you could find yourself missing out on things because you did not take the time to plan in advance.

Just a short trip from the center of Vancouver, the Capilano Suspension Bridge provides a spectacular day out. The bridge is suspended 230 feet above the Capilano River and spans 450 feet. This is one of Vancouver’s oldest tourist attractions, built originally in 1889. During your visit you will also be able to explore the Treetop Adventure, which is a series of connected suspension bridges that go from tree to tree over the coastal forest. There are lots of other great things to experience during your visit but the Capilano Suspension Bridge is an experience not to be missed for all the family.

For the less adventurous a beautiful and tranquil place to visit is the Chinese Gardens which is about 15 minutes walk from downtown Vancouver or the VanDusen Botanical Gardens, just a short bus ride away. There is also the Vancouver Maritime Museum where you can explore some ships of the past. The museum is a great place for families having a Children’s Discovery Center. In fact there are lots of museums in Vancouver from museums dedicated to the history of the fishing industry to the space museum. So, as you can see, Vancouver Museums cater for every taste.

You could use one of the Vancouver Trolley Company’s tour buses to get you to most of Vancouver’s visitor destinations. These replica San Francisco style trolleys provide a great, unhurried way to visit all the attractions. They offer ‘hop on, hop off’ tickets so you can stop to view any of the many attractions. They also offer day tours to some of their destinations. Or you could take a Seabus to find many of the tourist attractions, the Floatplanes take off at regular intervals making them a convenient and exciting form of travel around the area. The Seabus offers a great vantage point for the photographer who wants to take spectacular shots for the album.

Vancouver, BC, Canada has a plethora of top class hotels and restaurants for every budget. Explore the city and find some of the hidden gems to dine in or ask at your hotel for a local’s recommendation. They will usually be able to guide you to a restaurant that is not a tourist haunt but a local favorite.
